Renewable UK Cymru hosted a ceremony to celebrate the Wales Green Energy Awards on Friday 6 November. Local Partnerships’ Jane Forshaw was a finalist for “Outstanding Advocate of the Year”. Jane Davidson, former Welsh Government Minister and sustainability champion was a judge and presented the awards.
David Clubb, Renewable UK Cymru Director, described how renewable energy is becoming the preferred solution in many applications and costs are nearing parity with alternatives. He said this gave impetus to the celebration of best practice, innovation and determination displayed by the finalists.
Local Partnerships’ Jane Forshaw was a finalist for “Outstanding Advocate of the Year” for her current role as Project Director on Green Growth Wales and her previous role as Director of Environment at Cardiff Council. Competition was tough and our congratulations go to the winner of the category Mark Williams of Powys Windfarm Supporters.
In her Cardiff Council post, Jane secured £8 million in 18 months to support delivery of 16 energy projects that will provide electricity for 6,000 homes. From this success, her Cardiff team won the award for “best use of renewable energy in the public sector”.

Jane Davidson in judging described the Cardiff Council team as “a real trail blazer for the public sector”, remarking on their imagination in the delivery of traditional and non-traditional projects. She added that she hoped others will follow their example.
Local Partnerships plays a critical role in delivering the Welsh Government’s Waste Infrastructure Procurement Programmes, helping meet ambitious recycling and sustainability targets, whilst delivering value for money. With Green Growth Wales, the Local Partnerships team is working across the public sector to grow, accelerate and de-risk a pipeline of energy generation and efficiency projects.
