On 11 October, Ashden ran a workshop as part of their LESS CO2 Sustainable schools programme. The workshop involved people who have experience of working with schools, working in local authorities, or those who are working with local authorities in this area, including Local Partnerships’ Robert McKinnon.
The workshop investigated a number of key areas – what is happening in the education sector, sharing best practice and identifying barriers and opportunities for schools to save energy, make improvements to their sites and raise awareness with pupils.
The workshop helped provide useful insights into the ways that local authorities are working with schools and other partners. It also helped scope possible approaches for delivering improvements in the near future to be shared senior stakeholders, to help support the reduction in energy usage and CO2, save money and increase the awareness of these benefits to staff and pupils.
Attendees included Leicester City Council, Solihull Borough Council, East Sussex County Council, Surrey County Council and the Greater London Authority.
