Opportunity at LGA conference – teach in
WRITTEN BY Local Partnerships
POSTED ON 20th June 2018
There is a strong focus on Housing at the LGA conference including sessions on tackling the housing and homelessness crises, and building the right homes in the right places.
An integral part of overcoming the current housing challenge is how to work with stakeholders. Join Local Partnerships for a special session: Red Mist or Blue Spark? Engaging with Communities, on Wednesday 4th July at 2:45pm, on stand C9.
All councils with growth and regeneration ambitions need to engage confidently and effectively with their communities. How do you manage a room full of irate residents? How much control do you release or retain? How do you enable a free-flow of views, manage commercial confidentialities and also elicit the voices of the less vocal? How can you empower real people to find their own “can do” energy to drive change?
Leading urbanist and experienced facilitator Kevin Murray will join our Housing Director, Judith Atkinson, to run an interactive teach-in. This will draw out the accumulated learning from 30 years of managing community meetings, addressing place-based change including garden villages, estate regeneration, brownfield renewal and strategic housing sites in every sort of market setting.
Alongside the serious discussion you can show off your knowledge by taking part in a short housing quiz at the end. Points will be awarded and yes, Points mean Prizes!
To book your place, please email Rosalind KennyBirch and simply respond: “yes”. Further details will be sent to you.
If you’re not at the conference but would like to know more about our webinar programme, or other work to support councils, please email Sarah Ghile and title your message: “Tell me more”
