E-Scooter trials

WRITTEN BY Local Partnerships
POSTED ON 30th July 2020

As lockdown measures have eased, but with social distancing still in place, there remains some concern about travelling on public transport and that people will return in even larger numbers to private cars.

A potential means to combat this is through the use of e-scooters. These are currently illegal on the roads and pavements in the UK, with the exception of limited areas opened up for trials.

Currently there are around 30 trials planned across the UK, however no central evaluation of the findings has been planned. Working alongside transport specialists Cenex, we invite authorities piloting, or intending to pilot, e-scooters to contact us with a view to undertaking a consolidated evaluation exercise, the results of which would be disseminated to all local authorities.
