We are delighted to be part of the project team supporting this new pilot fund!
Crowdfunding Public Infrastructure Projects is a new pilot fund that has been launched by the Bauman Institute. The fund is available to provide direct financial support to Public Sector bodies who want explore the opportunities for crowdfunding to finance new, socially-beneficial infrastructure projects and to understand better the benefits and barriers of using this method of alternative financing
Tracey Crouch, Minister for Sport and Civil Society, said: “We are committed to making it easier for people to make investments that reflect their values. This solution has enormous potential to do just that, while benefitting local communities and securing economic return.”
Dr Mark Davis, Director of the Bauman Institute and Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Leeds will lead and coordinate a Project Team – including: ‘Inclusive Economy Unit’ based in Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS); Abundance Investment; and Local Partnerships – to build the knowledge base around crowdfunding, to understand where and how crowdfunding can work best, for which infrastructure projects, and how it benefits the local community – i.e. by allowing individuals to invest their money in line with their values, and to have a real stake in their local community.
