Board appointments for Leader of Thanet District Council

Chris Wells, Leader of Thanet District Council, has been appointed to serve on the Boards of two public
sector bodies – Local Partnerships and the District Councils’ Network.

Local Partnerships is a joint venture between HM Treasury and the Local Government Association. It works
with local and national government and other public sector bodies to deliver effective, timely and affordable
solutions to the challenges they face through specialist programme teams providing trusted, professional
support and advice.
The District Councils’ Network is the national voice of district councils in England. It’s a cross-party memberled
network of 200 district councils in England and lobbies central government, political parties and other
stakeholders directly on behalf of members, as well as commissioning research, providing support, and
sharing best practice.

Councillor Wells, Leader of Thanet District Council since May 2015, and an elected member in local
government since 2003, said:

“I am honoured to accept these appointments and aim to make positive contributions through knowledge
gained from my time as a management consultant specialising in voluntary sector fundraising and
management, as well as my experience in local government at Parish, District and County level.”

Sean Hanson, Local Partnerships’ Chief Executive said:

“We are delighted to welcome Councillor Wells to the Board of Local Partnerships. His breadth of experience
will be an asset to our Board, where he joins HM Treasury and LGA colleagues, and independent
representatives. As part of the Board, he will help shape the strategic direction of Local Partnerships’ work
supporting the public sector to deliver projects and change at the local level, ensuring key priorities are
achieved.”

Local Partnerships is a joint venture between HM Treasury and the Local Government Association (LGA),
formed in 2009 to help the public sector deliver local services and infrastructure.

It works with local and national government and other public sector organisations to deliver effective, timely
and affordable solutions to the challenges they face – for the public good.

The District Councils’ Network (DCN) is a cross-party member led network of 200 district councils in England.
It is a Special Interest Group of the Local Government Association (LGA), and provides a national voice for
